Battle of the upper class: Fulham vs Cambridge United

The U's are on fine form with 4 points and 2 great performance's in their last 2 games. A draw to high flying Grimsby courtesy of a last minute equaliser and a comeback against Fleetwood has given Harris added confidence ahead of Tuesday's carabao cup fixture. As for Fulham, they've started the season extremely well with only 1 loss to London rivals Chelsea. Both sides will make changes to the starting 11 from Saturday's victories.

Predicted lineup

The U's will likely include players such as McConnell on the bench. He could start the game to give Brophy a rest but I think with Brophy on form and only playing 60 minutes on Saturday he will start the game at the Cottage. Smith is likely to play 45-60 minutes as he is coming back from injury too. I was torn with Eastwood starting over Hughes but I think the fact we are playing Premier League opposition, Harris could lead with the no.1.

The U's have faced Fulham just once in a friendly. A 3-1 win saw the U's take all 0 points in the summer of 2019 with goals from Knibbs and a brace from Ibehre. Since then the U's have waved goodbye to both goal scorers that day with Knibbs now playing in the Championship and Ibehre enjoying retired life after making 599 professional appearances.

Cup upset?

The U's will have to defend expertly and not make any mistakes throughout the 90 minutes of football to take it to pens. With the bookies giving us a 14/1 chance of winning, it seems impossible. However, they said the same this a few January's ago in Newcastle. Nothing is impossible and in recent years there have been plenty of cup upsets so how can Harris' men replicate a famous cup upset? Sitting back in a 4-4-2 and trying to hit on the counter attack seems the best method for a win. Scoring both our goals from corners on Saturday, the U's will aim to grab a goal from a Kaikai, Brophy or even Knight corner. Jobe, who is likely to start, has also scored this season from a header and shown his ariel presence throughout the pitch.
