Brazilian born youngster give U's 3-1 win

10 changes saw the way of the starting 11. The U's looked confident and comfortable in possession. Knight and McConnell looked to drop deep to link play between Jobe and Rossi and Kachunga up front. However, it was Luton's Anderson who was able to prod home from 6 yards out after missing the deep cross and giving Luton the early lead. A pretty poor goal to concede but with a heavily rotated squad, likely a 1 off. Only minutes later Brophy had a good chance after 2 minutes of backwards and sideways passing from the U's. It took 29 minutes for Kachunga to miss his first chance of the game. A very good chance at that. Youngster McConnell drove at the back 3 to create a 3v3 and laid it to his left but the shot was easily saved. It took 34 minutes for a U's goal and it was Brazilian born wonderkid, Glenn McConnell. A fantastic looping long range effort deceived the keeper and has given the youngster his first professional goal for the U's. The U's went into the half time break level but playing so much better.

Knight was taken off during the 15 minute break at halftime and was replaced by Mayor. It took just 59 seconds for the U's to take the lead. Kachunga taps home after McConnell and Purrington work it well out wide on the left. Purrington pulls the ball across and Kachunga stabs home to make it 2-1. Just past the hour mark McConnell has his big chance saved and Mayor's rebound is cleared off the line. A stoppage at the corner was caused by the introduction of Kouassi and Luton legend Mpanzu. The former Premier League midfielder with Luton couldn't hide his smile as he is one of the first players at the Abbey who has got a full applause from everyone in attendance. A fantastic Neil Harris style goal, a long goal kick by Hughes fell to Kachunga who calmly lofted the ball over the keeper's head and the game is sealed and stamped with 10 minutes left. 3-1 to the U's and another game to add to the unbeaten streak. The magician McConnell was subbed off in the 86th minute for debutant McDougald. A fantastic moment for him, his family and the club's academy.
