U's fall for the second time this year

Harris was forced to replace Kaikai, who was on international duty for Sierra Leone, and so brough Adam Mayor into the starting 11. His first start since his injury all those months ago. Former captain and veteran centre back Morrison was also introduced into the squad, earning a spot on the bench.

The opening 10 minutes saw solid defending from both sides, timid attacking and a handful of corners. The strong wind clearly impacted both sides approach in the early stages. Very few mistakes but every attack forced a fan to pass the ball back to each keeper. 25 minutes into the game saw 5 shots (0 on target), 4 corners and 35% pass competition from the U's. Despite stats not always telling you the full context of the game, it certainly has today.

Harris was clearly far from happy with the first half performance. Brophy gave way for Lavery who once again is called upon to score. Inside 3 minutes Barnet took the lead from a corner. Centre back Collinge created a half yard and his shot beat Eastwood at the near post. Down by a goal and playing really poorly, the game looked like falling away from the U's.

Barnet continued to apply pressure, forcing Ball into a hospital pass to Eastwood who attempted to take a touch but was disposed. Incredibly that didn't result in anything beneficial for Barnet as Eastwood was bailed out.

Harris then made a double change at the hour mark. Strangely bringing off Mpanzu for Smith despite Ball being the poor performer in midfield as well as bringing off Appere for Nevitt.

The U's almost went 2-0 down after Senior escaped past Smith and Mayor, who's defensive effort was laughable, and put in a great cross that was almost turned behind by Jobe. Luckily the ball hit the advertising board and not the back of the net.

It took 70 minutes for the U's to start playing well. The first dominant spell for the U's so far. Ball was finally brought off for the creative youngster McConnell. With 10 minutes left, Slicker deliberately handles the ball outside his box but gets away without even a card. Another display of great League Two officiating.

One of the worst performances of the season for the U's was on full display today. Added pressure for fans, players and staff as well as a huge confidence knock going into a busy and important Easter weekend.
