United get back to winning ways following 3-0 victory against Crawley Town

Following Saturday's embarrassing loss to Harrogate Town, Harris named 2 changes with Hoddle and McLoughlin coming in for Kaikai and Ball who both started the game from the bench. Crawley Town manager, Scott Lindsey named 3 changes from their 1-0 defeat against Crewe.

The 1st chance of the game went the way of Crawley. A long ball found it's way to Orsi, who's shot was well saved and the rebound was missed entirely and Brophy aimed his pass towards Appere.

Neither side were able to take control of the game with long balls between keepers. The U's frequented in the Crawley final third more often than the home side did but no chances were created and a lot of individual errors ranging from making the wrong pass to misplacing passes.

The 1st chance of the game fell to McKirdy, who's header went wide from 4 yards out. The typical McKirdy chance with a typical McKirdy finish.

Harris was forced to bring on Ball after Hoddle was forced off after being hit late on his left knee.

The U's took the lead courtesy of a brilliant move down the right hand side. Gibbons found Bennet on his underlapping run into the box. After keeping the ball in play Bennet returns the ball to Gibbons. Hitting the ball first time, Gibbons' deep cross finds midfielder Shane McLoughlin who's shot found the back of the net. A tense, physical game that the U's led in which took them to 3rd in League Two.

The U's started much the better side and Appere's pass into Mpanzu was certain to make it 2. Mpanzu's lacklustre shot was easily saved by Chapman. A huge let off for Crawley and another missed chance that could bite the U's in the backside.

Another good chance for those in cream and green as Bennett's pull back from the byline found Ball who's shot was considerably wide. Another chance goes begging for the U's.

Numerous changes from both sides including Lavery, Purrington and Kaikai on for Appere, Knight and Brophy.

The U's finally made it 2-0 with a brilliant counter attack stemming from Kell Watts. The defender played the ball direct to Mpanzu who found himself in ample space. The ball was played into Lavery, who's poor touch created space for Kaikai on the right hand side. Kaikai calmly slotted home to erupt the U's fans behind the goal.

After keeping the ball in the corner flag for 4 of the 5 additional minutes, Bennett once again pulls the ball back and Kaikai gets his 2nd of the night.
