Match preview: Barnsley vs Cambridge United

Relegation threatened Cambridge United travel to Barnsley in need of all 3 points. Having lost their last 4 games the U's are in severe danger of playing League 2 football next year. As for Barnsley, following the departure of manager Darrell Clarke and the appointment of Conor Hourihane find themselves in 10th. They have only won 5 games since the turn on the year.
Cambridge United have struggled with life in League One this season having only won 7 times in 37 games in the league this season. The U's have recorded 3 points in their last possible 15, scoring 3 and conceding 5. Most recently dropping points to local rivals Peterborough in a 1-0 loss. Neil Harris has been vocal in his 2 meetings with the press about his frustration with the loss. The U's have lost by 1 goal 17 times this season which has been a focus for Harris mentioning that he has to try "find a way to win". Speaking in his pre match press conference against Barnsley he had a very direct and open plan on his evaluation on the club. Harris criticised the training pitches calling the standard "unacceptable". Alluding that this could play a part to the amount of injuries that have faced both Gary Monk and Neil Harris.
Neil Harris made it clear that following the parting ways of Jason Euell that there were no bad feelings. Harris went on to describe Jason as a "lovely lad". Harris mentioned that a replacement will likely be appointed to in the summer. Barry Corr will also continue his duties until the end of the season and a decision will be made then on his future.
No new injuries were picked up following their 1-0 loss to Peterborough, however Kaikai was unable to play in a behind closed scenes game on Tuesday due to a slight issue following his return from injury. Harris confirmed that he will be able to travel to Barnsley but minutes may be restricted. Harris also confirmed Jobe will be out for the rest of the season. Harris will also be able to provide updates on Lavery, Smith and Andrew in the 2nd week of April.
As for Barnsley they have recently changed their manager with Conor Hourihane coming in as caretaker. The former Barnsley player from 2014-2017 has now gone into his first managerial role. Barnsley sit 10th in League One recording 15 wins so far having drawn 7 and losing 15. They sit 9 points away from the playoffs with 9 games left. Barnsley have lost their last 3 games and will be keen to get back to winning ways with a home game against Cambridge United.
