Summer signing no.6: Jake Eastwood

U's fans had to wait until 6pm to understand who their 1st choice goalkeeper is going to be. The U's welcome Jake Eastwood with open arms to add to the summer signings. Despite coming through at Sheffield United many U's fans may not know who he is... so who is he?

Who is Jake Eastwood?

Jake Eastwood is 28 and not played a full season since 2016-17 during his loan spell at Mickleover Sports. There are a lot of question marks over why Harris and Bonner have signed him. A lengthy plethora of clubs have signed him yet nothing has worked out for him yet in over a decade which begs the question as to why have we signed a 28 year old goalkeeper with a serious lack of experience. Eastwood is on a 1 year deal and has been described as confident and a Cambridge United goalkeeper which would entail not very good. However, we as fans must put faith in the former Sheffield United keeper as there isn't much tape to watch of him which could be a good thing.

What has Harris said?

Since confirming that 4 deals have fallen through for a 1st choice keeper the pressure has been immense for the U's to sign a good number 1. We struggled last season going through 4 goalkeepers across 1 season and subsequently being relegated. Despite this Harris has been pleased with Eastwood in training which shows stats are just a number on a piece of paper and don't tell the full story of a player. Eastwood is likely to be our main choice going into the 25/26 League Two campaign but a lot of question marks are towering over him before he has even made a save.
