The future of Cambridge football is here

The Cambridge Cobras have started their journey in non league like a cheater on a hunt. Both the men's and women's team have had great success in the 1st half of the season and picking up the deserved recognition across Cambridgeshire.

Men's team

Led by manager Gareth Matthews-Jones, the Cobras currently sit top of the Cambridgeshire County 4A division with 41 points from 17 games and a positive goal difference of 36. They are unbeaten since 20th December, losing 5-2 on the road to 2nd place West Wratting A. However, since that defeat the Cobras have won 4 and drew only once. With momentum on their side Matthews-Jones' side will be hoping to continue their good run of form as they push for promotion.

Daniel Titchener and Oliver Maund both have netted 11 times in their combined 20 appearances, including 5 assists for Titchener.

Last time out, the Cobras were victorious against Whittlesford United Reserves in a 3-2 win. After leading 2-0 at half time, the Cobras extended their lead to 3 before the home side got 2 goals in the final 30 minutes but courtesy of fantastic defending and clever substitutions, the Cobras went home with all 3 points to edge closer to the title.

Women's team

Led by Co-Chairmen Joe Asensi and Simon Gibbs, the Cobras women's side have been on a fantastic run of their own in the Alan Boswell Division 3. Currently sitting top with 36 points from 14 games, only losing twice across the season and have a game in hand on 2nd place Linton Granta who trail by 4 points. 5 wins from their last 6 games, scoring 54 goals in the process and only conceding 10, the Cobras are flying in the league. A perfect 100% winning run when playing at home with 9 wins from 9 games has been a crucial piece of the puzzle for Asensi and Gibbs.

3 players currently have over 20 goals this campaign; Maddison Ball has 24 goals and 7 assists, Eleanor Mcleish has 24 goals and 16 assists whilst top goal scorer Georgia Pledger has 26 goals and 8 assists.

Last time out the Cobras were 6-3 victors against 3rd place Cambridge Rangers Reserves which saw Mcleish net a hattrick. Despite a second half brace by Jade Smith, the Cobras saw out the win and kept their unbeaten home run intact.
