Cambridge United will host a playoff chasing a Wycombe Wanderers side who have their full focus on gaining promotion to the Championship. After a disappointing loss last time out for Cambridge United, they will want to return to CB5 with a win. However, their opposition sit 2nd in the league having only lost 4 times.
Since Tuesday's nights action both sides have made important decisions in the transfer market. Cambridge United bringing in midfielder Ben Stevenson for the rest of the season. A deal was struck prior to the Rotherham game however was announced on Thursday. Portsmouth fans seemed upset on social media claiming he is "a good league one midfielder" which will be just what the U's need with injuries to Thomas and Smith whilst Digby still recovers from his injury prior in the season. As for Wycombe, it has been rumored that they rejected a £6 million bid from Championship side Luton for talisman Richard Kone. The Ivorian striker has scored 16 times in just 28 appearances for the Chairboys. The striker has been on fine form this season and will be wanting to add to his tally come Saturday.
Cambridge United will aim to have success in a similar way to Northampton when they visited Wycombe. Northampton managed to keep Wycombe to a 0-0 draw which granted them a well deserved point. Garry Monk's side will need to be on top form in order to beat a strong Wycombe side however have shown positives in their last handful of games which include Loft scoring 2 goals in 2 games. However the U's have struggles to keep the ball out of their own net which has resulted in 6 goals conceded in the last 3 games. Monk will be hoping for big impacts from new signings Stevenson, Osong and Ballard. As said by Monk Watts still can't see out of both eyes following his swollen eye from Tuesday nights game but is hopeful he will able to play against Wycombe.
