Summer signing no.9: Louis Appere

We have our no.9 before the season has started. This is not a drill. This is a real natural striker that has been signed for a fee. He goes by the name of Louis Appere and will in fact be wearing the no.9 shirt which may mean there will be no Loft on Saturday. He was a useful part of Northampton's League Two promotion side however has been unable to find the back of the net in the previous season. Appere is fit and ready to go which may mean no more Loft. 9 signings before a ball is kicked is fantastic and we are set up to have a very strong campaign after a good summer of signings with more to come in August.
Who is he?
Louis Appere is a Scottish born striker who has proved his ability to find the back of the net with 22 in 20 in 2019 whilst on loan at Broughty Athletic and 17 goals in 98 appearances at Northampton Town. Just under a decade ago he went on trial with Italian giants A.S Roma before signing for Dundee United. He is known to work hard and battle as well as drifting wide with players making runs off him. This could work amazingly with Brophy drifting inside and Knight and Kaikai being direct with the ball. He was offered a contract extension at Northampton this time last year but declined it, showing their is a belief that he is a League One level striker. There are a lot of positives about him and hopefully we will be able to see those come Saturday.
What to expect?
U's fans should expect to see a workhorse who will battle and fight from minute 1 to 90. He hasn't showed a consistent 15+ season yet however he impacts play off the ball and can give a good side around 10. This is exactly what the U's need in order to challenge for the top spots this season.
