U's add needed depth as Callum Perry joins on loan

Neil Harris openly spoke on new additions coming in in recent interviews and it has been now confirmed that Callum Perry has joined the club on a season loan from Coventry. After coming through Coventry's academy, the 20 year old spent the second half of the season on loan at Rochdale. He amassed 26 appearances and scored a penalty in their shootout win against Boreham Wood to promote the Dale to League Two. Perry will join the squad to Spain after already having trained Spain with Coventry during their pre season stint there.

“I'm buzzing, It has been a long time coming but I am delighted to finally be here. I had a call with the gaffer and everything he said seemed to fit me and where I am at in my career. I just want to get better and help the team and I think this is the perfect place to do that" said the young defender.

Manager Neil Harris praised his versatility “His left-footed ability and versatility strengthen our backline, allowing him to play a number of positions across the defensive unit. We look forward to helping Callum develop and progress as a young player on his journey to the top."

Perry can play both left back and centre back, with the U's now having the ability to play both a 4 or a 5 at the back, this signing strengthens both the starting 11 and bench depth as the U's look to battle in the division above after securing promotion in May.
