The U's are looking to add to their dominant run of form with a victory against Tranmere Rovers. Their 11 league game unbeaten streak has led to many tipping those in amber to be promoted but with a lot of football left to be played nothing is a certainty as we have seen many times in League Two. Last time out The U's were on the road last Saturday and following a sublime Kaikai freekick and a thrashing Gibbons goal, took all 3 points from Fleetwood. A fantastic resilient per

Following the Grimsby game being called off only a few hours before kick off, the U's have had a few more days to rest before a huge cup tie. Match preview: Grimsby (H)
The U's look to make it 15 games unbeaten with a home tie against Grimsby. The U's overcame a very strong Walsall side, winning 2-0 courtesy of a double from Knight. The U's also go into game week 25 with the most clean sheets in the 92. Multiple penalty saves from Eastwood and goal line clearances have kept Harris' side no.1. Grimsby come to the Abbey with 2 wins on the trot, however their previous league victory was on the 18th October. They have dropped significantly since

United's Knight in shinning armour scores twice as U's win
The U's looked to add to their 13 game unbeaten streak with a home tie against 3rd place Walsall. Harris made a handful of changes to start the new year including starting Ben Knight. These changes were made to match the Walsall formation whilst also being able to offer 2 supporters to the lone striker Appere. The opening 20 minutes were awful from both sides. The ball was either out of play or in the air as it seemed like more of a head tennis game then a top of the table Le

U's crumble late at home to promotion challengers Chesterfield
The U's made 5 changes from the FA Cup victory 11 on Saturday to face Chesterfield in League Two. The U's started with a 4-4-2/4-5-1 with Kachunga and McConnell as the furthest forward in amber. The U's started the game in fine fashion and dominated the ball and won most 50/50 duels both in the air and on the ground. A fantastic start was rewarded from an inch perfect cross from wonderkid McConnell who's cross found the glancing huge head of the greatest Geordie Centre Back.

Dominant U's blow by Bluebirds away from home
The U's looked to break their atrocious away record with a mammoth journey to AFC Barrow. The U's started Appere, Jobe and McConnell after a 3 month injury to Kouassi. Barrow have lost just 2 games in all competitions since 20th September. Despite their impressive run the Bluebirds sit 17th in League Two. The U's dominated opening affairs with a mix of shots from range and then working the ball into the box. Appere was being played to feet and was able to include McConnell, M

United avoid bee sting as their unbeaten home streak continues
Harris brought Purrington into the starting lineup but remained with 10 others that started against Salford. Despite rain lashing down in Cambridge over the last 2 days, the game went ahead. Ian Darler and his fellow ground staff did a great job to get the pitch prepared for this League Two clash. The opening 25 minutes had a handful of shots, none troubled either keeper, no action and some poor officiating. Barnet were very structured and didn't allow any early chances for t

A remembrance day game to forget

U's take on newly knighted Sir David Beckham
Following the U's 1-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion U-21 on Wednesday, Harris' men will travel up to Manchester to take on Salford City. Salford managed to beat Lincoln on penalties last Saturday in the FA Cup. That adds to their unbeaten run stretching all the way back until 18 October as they overcame Oldham at home. Monotonous win despite fireworks above
The U's made 10 changes from the side that beat Chester in the FA Cup. A changed but still strong side for the U's as Brighton and Hove Albion U-21's put out a strong, aggressive and hungry side. The U's looked to dominate from the off. Gibbons' edge of the box effort was magnificently saved by the young seagull in between the sticks. The U's looked to continue to apply pressure with multiple brilliant crosses from Brazilian born McConnell. Bradshaw played a firm pass into Ka

On form U's to face promising Brighton & Hove U-21
The U's go into this Vertu Trophy game with a win against Chester in the FA Cup. As we wait for league action, the players will have their focus on a very promising Brighton & Hove U-21 side with bags of potential. The U's sit 3rd and 2 points away from progressing into the next round. A win gets the U's through but anything else will see the U's out of the competition. Despite it being a rather insignificant cup, getting good minutes into the young players and those who aren

U's comfortably book their ticket into round 2
With all the bookies and fans declaring the U's as the favourites it was vital that they ensured there would be no upsets in this magical competition. The U's introduced Smith, Bennett, Knight and others whilst also maintaining a strong 11 that wouldn't suffer a cup upset. The U's were fantastic in the first half with 2 goals from bagsman Kouassi courtesy of 2 Brophy assists and the favour was repaid as Kouassi set Brophy's fantastic curled goal. The greatest cup competition in the world returns to the Abbey
The U's return the FA cup with a home tie against Chester FC. The non league knocked out Morecambe in the 4th qualifying round. The U's are hoping for a comfortable victory to book a ticket into the 2nd round but the last time we faced a non league side in the competition we had to win through a penalty shootout. With no replays in the FA Cup anymore the same result is certainly on the cards. The U's will likely start with Kouassi and Kachunga through the middle as Lavery wil

Lavery injured, U's lose and no chances
The U's named an unchanged lineup from the side that beat Bromley at the Abbey last week. The U's started the game by sitting in a mid block. Lavery and Kouassi were pressing from the front with the assistance of Kaikai and Mayor. The U's never really got into the game with the ball at their feet. 30% possession throughout the opening 50 minutes. Gibbons came closest with a header from about 8 yards out that just went wide. It was a good move from the U's to set up the chance

Both strikers on the scoresheet as the U's win 2-1 vs Bromley
Harris brought in Ball, Kaikai and Purrington after McLoughlin was confirmed to be out until December due to an injury. Luckily, Ball was able to recover from his knock and start against Bromley. The U's walked out to their new black history month shirt. Bromley started with a 4-2-3-1 with Cheek up top as the lone striker. The U's started the game with venom and hunger, following last weeks embarrassing loss. It took under 2 minutes for the deadlock to be broken. Kouassi's sh

U's gift Shrewsbury Town 2-0 win
The U's made 1 change to the starting 11 that beat Crawley 3-1 at the Abbey last weekend. Shrewsbury moved into a solo striker but with 2 sitting just beneath him. The U's dominated possession in the opening 10 minutes with Lavery having 2 snap shots that didn't test the keeper. The U's were passing the ball very well and looked calm and confident. However, despite Shrewsbury having their worst league start since 1979/80 season they took the lead in the 10th minute after Smit

10 changes saw the way of the starting 11. The U's looked confident and comfortable in possession. Knight and McConnell looked to drop deep to link play between Jobe and Rossi and Kachunga up front. However, it was Luton's Anderson who was able to prod home from 6 yards out after missing the deep cross and giving Luton the early lead. A pretty poor goal to concede but with a heavily rotated squad, likely a 1 off. Only minutes later Brophy had a good chance after 2 minutes of

Cambridge United VS Luton Town :Vertu Trophy Preview
The U's will look to add to a modest and improving start to the season with a win at the Abbey against former rival Luton Town. From playing them twice a season to being 2 divisions below the travelling side, the U's will face Luton once again now only 1 division below them. An unfortunate back to back relegation for Luton, aligned with the U's relegation last season has left the 2 sides close once again. The U's will be without Kaikai and Ball after missing out on Saturday,
